Understanding Aluminium Profiles for Flooring
You've picked your beautiful new floor, but don't forget the finishing touches. Aluminium profiles (or trims) are essential for a professional, safe, and long-lasting installation.
Common Types of Profiles
- Reducer (Ramps): Used to transition between floors of different heights, such as from laminate down to vinyl or carpet. It prevents a trip hazard.
- T-Piece (Expansion Profile): Used between two floors of the same height (e.g., in a doorway between a hallway and a bedroom). It covers the necessary expansion gap.
- End Cap: Finishes the floor against a surface where you can't install skirting, such as a sliding door track or a fitted cupboard.
- Stair Nosing: Protects the edge of stairs and provides grip.
Why Aluminium?
While plastic or wood-effect MDF profiles exist, aluminium offers superior durability. It doesn't crack, it withstands heavy foot traffic, and it provides a sleek, modern metallic finish (available in Silver, Bronze, Champagne, etc.) that complements most interior styles.
